This month's item is a chisel plane. Unlike most planes, the blade protrudes slightly beyond the end of the tool, making them ideal for trimming joints and end-grain wood plugs, and working in tight corners. And therein lies a big difference between chisel planes, which you push (e.g., into a corner), and scrapers, which are pulled.
