This month's mystery item should have been a no-brainer. It's one of the
before-and-afters on our website. It's known by many
names: wire tensioner, wire stretcher, and barbwire dog. It comes in a
variety of styles to best suit the user's needs and is used by anyone
needing to draw wire taught - for instance, a lineman, a builder, or a rancher putting up or repairing a barbwire
fence. Ron's father purchased this one from an Army surplus store in the early '60s when he was a sheriff. If you look closely, you'll notice
small swatches of green paint still in the crevices.
