This month's mystery item is a wire crimper. It's similar to a fence stretcher (featured as June's mystery item) in that it's used to take up the slack in a fence. However, stretchers are used when erecting fences. That's because they're meant to stretch each wire equally and simultaneously.

Fence crimpers are meant to create tension in a single wire. Scroll down to see how they're used.


These tools create tension by crimping the wire. As you can see by the pictures on the left, they're pretty simple to use. Simply insert the wire into the head of the crimper while in the open position, then close.
