This month's mystery item is a cuff holder, used to hold a shirt cuff in place. Wizard patented its first one in 1885. This one has patent dates on the back ranging from Oct 1889 to May 1906.
This 1901 Sears, Roebuck & Co. catalog ad shows a couple of styles of cuff holders — a real steal at less than a dime a pair!
Wizard had some pretty ornate and eye-catching advertising — and why shouldn't it? Its cuff holders had a patented rubber grip clasp!
